At least 34 wheelies arrested over racing, one-wheeling in Karachi's Sea View

Police launched a crackdown on Sunday against racers near Karachi’s Sea View area, arresting at least 34 people, South Punjab News reported.

The law enforcers also seized six cars and 14 motorcycles that were being used for racing in the area. During the crackdown, arms were also found in possession of two arrested car owners.
The development comes after a week when a teenager was killed while another young man was injured in an incident of road rage near Do Darya. The boy lost his life when armed men travelling in a pickup truck opened fire on his car in Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Moreover, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal also visited the area and said that Section 144 was imposed against people involved in one-wheeling and racing for which operations have launched since continued. However, he said the authorities have started taking actions more strictly now.
Police are also taking actions against cars with tinted glasses. During the checking, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda was also stopped for having his shaded windows in his car. He was however let go after he started shouting on the policemen, according to South Punjab News.Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal on Sunday visited the Sea View beach to review the snap checking being carried  after the provincial government  banned  one-wheeling.
Speaking to media, he warned  mechanics against  alterations of motorcycles that are used by young riders.
He said a social media team has also been formed to address complaints with regard to one-wheeling, a couple of days after Sindh government imposed a complete ban on one-wheeling and bike-racing.
“On our part we are making  all efforts to curb street crimes, and accidents caused by bike-racing at  Sea View”.
He, however, came up with a justification regarding rampant street crimes in the metropolis, saying  several US cities witness more crimes then Karachi.
The ban by Sindh government on bike-racing  was announced in the wake of an incident, which saw a man killed and another injured at the hands of a youth near Karachi beach after car hit a motorcyle.
The minister also urged parents to keep an eye on their children to avoid accidents.
