Protesters and federal agents clash in Minneapolis after woman shot dead by ICE

Protests are taking place in Minneapolis after 37-year-old Renee Good was shot and killed by a US immigration agent. Renee Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent on Portland Avenue near East 34th Street in the Central neighbourhood of Minneapolis.

US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good was "stalking and impeding" officers and tried to "weaponise her vehicle"

The Minneapolis City Council, however, said Good was simply "caring for her neighbours" when she was shot and killed at around 10:25 local time on Wednesday

Hundreds of ICE agents have been deployed to Minneapolis, in the state of Minnesota, as part of the White House's crackdown on illegal immigration

Following the shooting, the city's Democratic mayor, Jacob Frey, used an expletive to urge the ICE agents to leave. Noem says ICE operations in Minneapolis will continue and the FBI is investigating.

Before we hear the latest comments from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, let's go over what she's said since the incident on Wednesday.

Noem, who visited the city last night, has said Good was "stalking and impeding" the ICE officers and blocking them with her car.

"ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car and to stop obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands," she said.

Noem said Good "then proceeded to weaponise her vehicle" and "attempted to run a law enforcement officer over".

"This appears to be an attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents, an act of domestic terrorism. The ICE officer, fearing for his life and the other officers around him and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots," she said.

Noem also said that there would be an FBI investigation and that ICE operations will
