Seminary teacher accused of abducting two minor sisters from Karachi,Three kidnapped for ransom

An abduction FIR was registered at Preedy Police Station on Tuesday after two sisters went missing from a madrassa near Abdullah Haroon Road under mysterious circumstances last weekend.

The complainant, Muhammad Azeem Akhtar, has accused a school teacher of abducting his daughters. The girls, Amna, 15, and Ayesha, 7, live with him in Allah Wali Colony, a settlement on Abdullah Haroon Road, Akhtar told the police. The girls had gone to the nearby madrassa on Saturday and did not return home, stated the complaint.

When the distressed father inquired at the madrassa, he was told that the girls had already been dismissed. On pressing the matter further, Akhtar found that a seminary teacher, identified as Sultan, had taken the girls with him in his car.

Akhtar told the police that Sultan also teaches at Hyderi Model School in Hijrat Colony, where Amna and Ayesha also study in grades six and two, respectively.

Sultan would frequently insist on dropping them home personally instead of letting them leave in the school van, stated Akhtar, adding that Sultan had also been giving his daughters expensive presents.

Sultan's mobile phone has been switched off since the sisters disappeared.

Officials at Preedy Police Station said they have launched an investigation into the matter and have retrieved CCTV footage from areas within the vicinity of the seminary and the girls' home.

However, despite the abduction FIR, after accounts by students at the seminary, the police are also considering whether the elder sister had planned to run away.

Three young men, including two brothers, were abducted by a gang of criminals from Ghotki, Sindh, the criminals have demanded a ransom of Rs6 million for their release, Express News reported.

The victims, who are residents of Rizvia Society in Karachi, were reportedly working in online dry cleaning, managing a Facebook page called ‘Perfect Choice,’ where they offered services such as sofa and carpet cleaning.

The incident occurred on January 2, when 24-year-old Owais and his 20-year-old brother, along with their friend, were sent to Ghotki for a cleaning job.

Owais' mother spoke with him before his departure, and upon arrival in Ghotki, Owais called her to express concerns about the people he was meeting, suspecting them to be dangerous. Shortly after the call, both of his phones were turned off.

On January 3, Owais managed to contact his uncle, Nauman, and informed him that the kidnappers were demanding Rs6 million.

A video was later sent to Owais' phone via WhatsApp, showing all three men chained, with the kidnappers threatening to kill them unless the ransom was paid. The captors set a two-day deadline for the payment.

Nauman, the uncle of the victims, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, registered an abduction case against the unknown assailants at Rizvia Society police station.

The police have filed a case under Section 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to kidnapping for ransom. The investigation has now been handed over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC).

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has taken note of the incident and authorities are working to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the kidnappers. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators.
