In a display of unparalleled bravery, an officer and a soldier from the Pakistan Army valiantly embraced martyrdom last night during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out by security forces in Balochistan, the military said.
The operation was launched in response to reports of terrorist presence in the Sambaza area of Zhob district, with the tragic events unfolding during the late hours of the night.

Tragically, during this exchange of fire, Major Syed Ali Raza Shah, a 31-year-old hailing from Sargodha district, who was courageously leading the operation from the front, and Havaldar Nisar Ahmed, a 38-year-old resident of Vehari district, both fought gallantly and made the ultimate sacrifice by embracing Shahadat (martyrdom), according to the ISPR statement.
The ISPR expressed profound gratitude to the brave soldiers of Pakistan, acknowledging their unwavering courage and sacrifices for the motherland. These acts of valour further fortify the nation's resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from our beloved country, the ISPR emphasised.
In the wake of the operation, efforts to sanitize the surrounding areas are currently underway, aimed at eliminating any other potential threats or terrorists that may still be present in the region, the ISPR added.
At least one police official was martyred and two others were injured in a terrorist attack on the Hathala police station in Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday night.
As per the police, the terrorists attacked the police station with heavy weapons, including hand grenades. The injured officers were transferred to the district hospital for medical treatment.
One police official succumbed to his injuries during treatment, he belonged to Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The terrorists destroyed the main gate of the police station, however, they retreated after a heavy exchange of fire with law enforcers.
Earlier, a notorious terrorist wanted in more than 10 cases by law enforcement agencies, met his end in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dera Ismail Khan district.
Security forces and police acted on credible intelligence that the infamous terrorist, Haibat Khan, was present in Kulachi. They initiated a thorough door-to-door search operation in the area, leading to the successful outcome. Haibat Khan had a substantial reward of six million rupees on his capture, dead or alive, a police official told The Express Tribune
During the search operation, when security forces and police reached the house where the terrorist was hiding, Haibat Khan and his associates opened fire at the search party. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Haibat Khan was killed, while his aides managed to escape. Notably, Haibat Khan was wanted in 10 terrorism cases, making his elimination a significant achievement.
The official added that an AK-47 rifle and hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
