Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has said that I love to south Punjab and I had allocated major part of budget during my previous era to bring this neglected and less-developed area at par with other developed regions. Development of South Punjab is my mission and I would serve the people to alleviate their miseries.These views were expressed by him in a special meeting with Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi a noted industrialist, former Punjab caretaker Minister of Industry and ex- president of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in Lahore.
Chief Minister said. “Our government, soon after coming into power, has created ease for the traders in doing business. He said that the timing restriction ban on doing business has been lifted across the province and permission has been granted to open the business centres and shops the entire week.” He said that the government would provide more facilities to the traders and the industrialists in the province. He disclosed that state-of-the-art Special Economic Zones will be set up in the province and they will get benefit from a successful model of the world in this regard. Parvez revealed that an agro-based economy will be promoted in the province adding that if the agricultural sector thrives then the economy will be strengthened. He maintained that we would take decisions in consultation with all the stakeholders including business community .
Ch.Pervez Elahi said that Multan is a city of saints and I respect it from the core of my heart That is why I provided record funds for Nishtar Hospital for the first time in my previous tenure besides upgradation of Cardiology Institute and Children's Hospital in Multan.
In the meeting, Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi said that the people of South Punjab are once again expecting for mega projects of health, education and civic amenities like upgradation of medical institutions,educational institutions and resolving sewerage of Multan district. In particular, the emergency ward of Nishtar Hospital is facing shortage of medicines for the past several months. Immediate action should be taken in this regard. Besides, there is a severe shortage of doctors and faculty in Nishtar Hospital and University. Attention is required. In addition, thousands of people from south Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh come for treatment at Chaudhry Parvez Elahi Institute of Cardiology Multan. Considering the large number of patients, the expansion block of Cardiology Institute Multan needs to work quickly. Similarly, obstacles in the construction of Mother and Child Hospital in Multan should be removed so that the cost of the project does not increase.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi told Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi that I am keeping a close eye on all the ongoing development projects in Multan and South Punjab. And I have asked Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid to supervise the construction of Nishtar Hospital -II and Parvez Elahi Institute of Cardiology Multan expansion project so that the people of the backward areas of South Punjab can get medical facilities. On drawing the attention of Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi, he said that he himself would ensure the provision of facilities and funds in the medical institutions in Multan city. So that the people who came for treatment would not be disappointed.
Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that water stagnates in Multan after every rain. In this regard, funds should be given to the WASA authorities urgently so that the chronic problem of the city can be solved. upon this Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that he was I contacting the Multan administration for taking immediate steps to improve the city's sewerage system.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi further said that Punjab is an agricultural province. I will upgrade the villages by promoting the agricultural economy of the province and on the other hand I will establish agricultural departments in various universities of Punjab. I will lead the farmers to prosperity by organizing economic projects.
On this occasion, Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi told the Chief Minister of Punjab that Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation is currently working on clean water projects in different parts of South Punjab in addition to providing public health and quality education. Jalaluddin Roomi further said that we are working with Govt to set up a water treatment plant. Apart from this, food is being provided to the deserving people on a daily basis in different areas of Multan. On this, the Chief Minister of Punjab lauded the services of Jalaluddin Roomi Foundation for humanity and said that roomi foundation would surely help in reducing the poverty, hunger and other miseries . Chief Minister at that time We are focusing on bringing life back to normal in the affected areas, which we are achieving through philanthropists and welfare institutions.
