Two police personnel killed, 25 injured as bus plunges into ravine in Attock


Two police personnel were killed and 25 others injured after a bus carrying the officers plunged in a ravine in Attock,Police reported  on Wednesday.

A rescue operation is underway to help the injured officers.

Initial reports indicate the vehicle's brakes failed, causing the accident. The police officials were on their way to Islamabad ahead of Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march.

The march kicked off on Wednesday after PTI Chairman Imran Khan reached Swabi by helicopter from Peshawar. He has asked supporters and PTI members to converge in Islamabad.

At least six people have been killed while 25 others sustained injuries after a bus plunged into a deep ravine after colliding to another passenger bus near Muree’s Khaira Gali on Monday, GNN reported.  

Rescue teams and police reached the spot after getting information and shifted the deceased an injured to a nearby hospital. 

The relief teams reached the accident site were shifting the victims to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Murree.  

According to officials, the ill-fated bus was carrying 30 passengers.  

The identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained. 

Road accidents are common in Abbottabad because of poor safety standards and infrastructure  

 At least six people were killed and several others wounded when a speeding passenger bus rammed into another passenger bus coming from opposite side on Jhang Layyah road.
