Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and United Arab Emirate have rejected Israeli plans to evacuate Palestinian homes in Jerusalem and impose Israeli sovereignty over them, foreign ministries of three Muslim states said in their statements.
The ministry stressed the country’s condemnation of any unilateral measures and violations of international legitimacy decisions. It also denounced anything that might undermine the chances of resuming the peace process to achieve security and stability in the region.
The ministry renewed its stand with the country’s people, and supported all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
It has also shown its support in enabling the Palestinians to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
A night of heavy clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and elsewhere in Jerusalem left more than 200 Palestinians wounded, medics said Saturday, as the city braced for even more violence after weeks of unrest.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has also condemened the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli authorities, stressing the need for them to assume responsibility in accordance with international law.
Pakistan on Saturday condemned Israeli attacks on worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
At least 205 Palestinians have been hurt in clashes in Jerusalem, according to Palestinian medics. Most were injured at Al-Aqsa Mosque where Israeli security forces on Friday fired rubber bullets and stun grenades amid protests against forced evictions of Palestinians from their homes claimed by Jewish settlers.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the attacks on innocent worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli occupation forces, that led to a number of injuries,” the Pakistani foreign office said in a statement.
Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem is one of the holiest sites of Islam. The clashes broke out as Muslims are observing the fasting month of Ramadan.
“Such attacks, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan are against all humanitarian norms and human rights laws,” the foreign office said.
“We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, reiterate our steadfast support to the Palestinian cause, and once again urge the international community to take prompt action to protect the Palestinian people.”
