Duty and Tax Remission on Exports (DTRE) scheme is beneficial for all- Seminar


MULTAN, Senior Vice President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah said that customs and State Bank authorities should provide relief, relaxations, exemptions, and other facilities to COVID-19 hit exporters, traders as well as industrialists. He was delivering his welcome address at an awareness seminar on Duty and Tax remission for exports(DTRE) here today. He said that it is necessary to keep the wheel of industry moving to earn foreign exchange through exports.He said that Multan chamber ever organises informative and awareness seminars, workshops and meetings to educate the people of the business community. Additional Collector (Customs) Pirzada Muhammad Omer Qasmi has stressed on the participants that awareness should be created among the business community about the benefits of these schemes so that a maximum number of exporters may use these simple, trade-friendly and easy to use schemes. Under the Export Oriented Unit Scheme, duties and taxes on all the imported goods, including machinery, are exempted against certain conditions. In the Manufacturing Bond Scheme, a manufacturer-cum-exporter can establish a manufacturing bond and import raw material used for the manufacture of finished goods without any upfront payment of duty/taxes.He said that under Rule 296 .The government is providing concessions in duties on the import of coal, furnace oil for generating power.This saves the cost and hassle of claiming refunds/drawbacks. The Duty and Tax Remission of Exports Scheme (DTRE) operates under the simple concept of no payment of duties/taxes and no duty-drawbacks. The Commercial exporters can also get DTRE approvals besides manufacturers.. Similarly, under the Duty Drawback Scheme, the Federal Board of Revenue repays the Customs duties paid on the importation of inputs which have been used in the production, manufacture and processing of goods exported out of Pakistan. Collector Custom Beenish Rashid said that Government was also providing all facilities to Mango exporters on the import of raw material for packing.She said that the Temporary Importation Scheme entails suspension/exemption from duties/taxes against securities on import of accessories like buttons, zippers, labels etc. used for manufacture and export of goods. This is the easiest scheme available for the exporters wherein the securities are released after the exportation of goods.The Seminar was also attended by Shafi Anis'a Sheikh, Ms.Aqeela Ijaz, Syed Zahid Hussain Gardezi, President of Mango Growers Association(MGA)and Secretary-General MCCI Muhammad Shafiq.
