Three soldiers of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom and eight other including an officer were injured in an ambush on their convoy near Gichak valley in Balochistan’s Panjgur district on Tuesday, the military said.
Terrorists opened fire on security forces during routine patrolling, military media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement.
“Five injured are critical,” said the Inter-Services Public Relations, adding that the injured have been evacuated to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Quetta.
The attack came two days after the martyrdom of four soldiers during an Intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district.
According to ISPR, all four terrorists were shot down by the security forces during the operation which took place in Vezhda Sar, some eight kilometres south-west of Miranshah.
But Al-Jazeera says: At least eight soldiers have been killed and five wounded after a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security forces convoy in the southwestern Pakistani district of Panjgur, the country’s military said.

In Tuesday's incident, three vehicles were targeted in the Gichak area, about 400km south of the Balochistan provincial capital Quetta, a brief statement by the military said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Pakistani forces have been fighting an ethnic Baloch armed separatist movement in the region for more than a decade.
Armed separatist groups have waged a guerilla campaign in Balochistan, the country’s largest but least populated province, for years, targeting security forces, government installations and projects associated with the $60bn China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Last month, two soldiers embraced martyrdom when their patrolling vehicle was targeted through an improvised explosive device (IED) in North Waziristan district.
In May, seven paramilitary troops were martyred in two separate terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
In April, security forces killed two terrorists during an exchange of fire in North Waziristan.
