
MULTAN: Mr. Justice Ch.Mushtaq Ahmed of Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Multan bench on Thursday granted seven days protective bail to Awami Raj Party,Ex-MNA chief Jamshed Dasti till Feb 20. THe court asked the police to open his handcuffs and released him. The court also set aside the judicial remand and recovery process.The lawyers of Jamshed Dasti Jamshed Syed Athar Shah Bukhari, Jamshed Hayat Sheikh, Syed Muzammil Bukhari, Malik Muhammad Amer Khan Bhutta and Basir Khan Sikhani contended that he was implicated in false cases on political grounds. However, Assistant Advocate General Ch. Zulfikar Ali Siddhu informed the court that Jamshed Dasti was inviolved in a number of cases of heinous crimes since 1992
The court said, in its remarks, that the verdict of the district and sessions court in Muzaffargarh has been declared as null and void. The LHC’s bench ordered the authorities to release Dasti immediately.
It is pertinent here to mention that Dasti was nominated in two different cases of abduction of a tanker driver and theft of oil. The district and sessions court in Muzaffargarh had handed over the former lawmaker to police on four-day physical remand
