Shahid Afridi ready to give a chance to out-of-school kids


MULTAN, Oct 22nd: Pakistan’s cricket legend Shahid Khan Afridi has said that Pakistan’s development hinged on providing ample opportunities to girls to get religious as well as modern education and vowed that 24 educational institutions will start functioning by December 2020 under Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF).
Addressing a fund-raising ceremony at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Multan (MCCI)chaired by Sheikh Fazal Elahi, its president, for the ‘Taleem Hogi Aam, Har Beti Ke Naam’ project of the Shahid Afridi Foundation, he said that girls should have opportunities for modern education too.
The ceremony was also attended by former Presidents MCCI M.Sarfraz, Muhammad Khan Saddozai  Senior Vice President M.Rashid Iqbal, Secretary-General M.Shafiq and others. Shahid Afridi eulogised the hospitality and cooperation of the body of the Multan Chamber.
Shahid Afridi said that his foundation, after having completed water supply, education and health initiatives in four provinces, is now targeting to bring over 20 million out-of-school kids to educational institutions. He disclosed that 24 educational institutions would start functioning by Dec 2020 under the foundation.
Speaking his heart out, Shahid Afridi said that people need to think about what they had contributed to Pakistan. He said that living for self is not important but living for others is what makes people stand out. He said that he is out on the fundraising campaign for the people and appealed citizens to join hands to make it a big success.
The star cricketer said that he is aware of the ongoing business slowdown situation but he believed that things would improve soon. He said that every individual must pray and play their part to improve and develop Pakistan. Shahid Afridi Foundation’s Global CEO Zeeshan Afzal said they all are endeavoring hard to realize the dream of Shahid Afridi.
He said that they had assessed Rs 30000 expenses for one child education and urged industrial and trade entities to bear expenses for 50-100 students. Chamber’s President Sheikh Fazal Elahi and vice president Mian Rashid Iqbal promised to stand by Shahid Afridi Foundation for the noble cause.
Shahid Afridi also addressed a fund-raising ceremony at the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture and stressed on unity among all to provide education to out-of-school kids. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Asif Ali presented a shield to Shahid Afridi while students took autographs and mobile selfies with the erstwhile cricketer.
