Nine of a family murdered in Multan for 'honour'

MULTAN: Nine members of a family were killed and set on fire in an honour-related incident at  Hassanabad area of Multan on Sunday night.
Rescue officials told media that  Eight of the deceased were gunned down while two of them were burnt alive inside a room, while one of the injured succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday.
Multan’s City Police Officer (CPO) Imran Mehmood was reported to have said that Muhammad Ajmal allegedly killed his wife Kiran who was a stage artist and eight in-laws over the honour issue, adding that the assailant, along with his brother and father Zafar, broke into his in-laws' house in Hassanabad Gate No.1   and opened fire at his wife, mother-in-law and other family members. Resultantly eight family members were killed on-the-spot.  Later, the suspects allegedly locked three others in a room and set them on fire, he added. 
According to the police, Ajmal had returned from Saudi Arabia few days earlier and had suspicions about character of his wife.Ajmal's son Hadi also succumbed to wounds
Two of the  alleged assailants have been arrested, while police were trying to apprehend a brother of the accused, who had fled the scene during the raid. Reports suggest that some members of the family died due to burn injuries after being injured by indiscriminate firing. According to rescue services, three people were also injured in the incident.
IG Punjab Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan taking notice of the incident, directed CPO Multan Imran Mehmood to reach the scene of the incident and take immediate action against the accused.
Two suspects have been arrested by the police, while one remains at large.
