Five workers dead, 1 injured as part on under-construction building collapses in Karachi's Boat Basin area

At least five people lost their lives, while one other were injured on Saturday when part of the construction material of an incomplete building fell in Karachi's Boat Basin area.
According to South Punjab News the structure fell while construction work was being conducted on the building. The five men that lost their lives were buried under the part of the building that collapsed.
The five construction workers that were killed in the incident include, Faisal Islam, Riaz Khan, Aslam, Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Asad.
The injured man has been shifted to the hospital while police present at the site confirmed to South Punjab News that part of the building's under-construction elevator area collapsed.
"The incident is being investigated, we want to know how the collapse occurred," Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shalwani told South Punjab News while adding that the building contractor will also be asked some questions.
SSP Investigation South also spoke to South Punjab News about the incident and termed it as tragic.
He said that this is a case of accidental murder and a first investigation report will be registered in the name of the state. "No one is here, everyone fled the scene," he said while adding that no arrests have been made as yet.
The Sindh Building Control Authority has been called to the site, while the area has been cordoned off to avoid the possibility of any more such incidents. The building has been sealed by the District Commissioner's department.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and has called for a detailed report on the matter from commissioner Karachi.
"Who was looking after the safety measures oat the building site," the chief minister asked while expressing sadness over the death of the five construction workers.
