PM directs to set up South Punjab Secretariat by mid 2019

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday has directed to set up and operationalize South Punjab Secretariat by mid next year. Sub secretriat South punjab will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary and additional secretaries of all provincial departments. South Punjab Police office will be headed by additional Inspector General of Police,South Punjab News reported.
He said this during a meeting with Planning Minister Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiyar, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab Finance Minister Makhdum Hashim Jawaan Bakht, and the chief secretary of Punjab held in Islamabad.The planning minister gave a detailed briefing about social and economic facts pertaining to South Punjab .Administrative matters regarding creation of new province of South Punjab also came under discussion during the meeting. Sources said that New sub secretariat and Police office will start functioning with effect from July,Ist,2019 in Multan to facilitate the people of three divisions of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. Bhakkar ,Mianwali,Sargodha,Jhang ,Sahiwal and Pakpattan districts will be under the control of Lahore as usual. A separate development programme is being created for south Punjab to remedy the imbalance of resource allocation in the province. "keeping in mind the region's population, backwardness and requirements, it has been decided that from next  year a separate development programme be set up."It is not possible to allocate separate funds for South Punjab at this juncture as most money had gone to other areas and there was an imbalance.
