PCGA delegation called on Prime minister and apprised him of their problems


MULTAN, Jan 18th: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi listened to the problems confronted by the ginners and assured the delegation that their grievances would be redressed and interest of cotton growers as well as ginners would be protected.A delegation of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA)led by Haji Muhammad Akram Bhatti met Prime Minister alongwith Federal Minister for water reservoir Syed Javed Ali Shah.Premier listened to them patiently.The prime minister assured that custom duty and sales tax would be maintained on the import of cotton till the lifting opf entire stock of cotton in ginneries. He also ensured that their refunds claims of withholding tax would be clearedas soon as possible.He said that cotton plays a key role in strengthening the country's economy because entire texile exports depends upon this produce.Prime Minister has said ,"we should adopt modern technology to achieve the target of 20 million bales of cotton.If we managed to achieve this target then we would be able to earn maximum foreign exchange and there would be no need of foreign loans and begging loans from the IMF ,World bank and other monetary institutions.PCGA Delegation suggested ,"we should bring maximum area under cotton crop to achieve the objective of 20 million bales of cotton and government should ensure supply of good quality seed to farmers.The delegation further said that our neighbouring country had multiplied its production by using modern technology.The delegation was comprised on Haji Muhammad Akram(Chairman of PCGA)Shehzad Ali Khan,Mukhtar Ahmed Baloch(Ex-Chairmen),Suhail Mehmood Haral,Aasim Saeed Sheikh(Ex-Vice Chairmen).
