Regional Police Officer visits Multan Chamber and spoke on policing

MULTAN, Nov 21st: Regional Police Officer,Multan range Muhammad Idrees Ahmed visited the Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry(MCCI) and met its President Malik Asrar Ahmed Awan,Senior Vice President Roomana Tanvir Sheikh,former Presidents Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, Farid Mughis Sheikh,Ex-Vice President Sheikh Fazal Elahi, Aurangzeb Alamgir and Secretary General Khurram Javed. The RPO lauded the cooperation of Multan Chamber with Multan police for introducing several reforms and improving the performance of Police,establishment of front desk.  On this occasion, the RPO said that the use of modern technology is need of the hour that should be adopted for successful policing. Muhammad Idrees  appreciated the working of Operations and Investigation wings of the  police with regard to geo-fencing, criminal record management system, mobile tracking system, and fingerprints matching system.RPO claimed that law and order situation in Multan region was satisfactory and we are endeavouring to improve the performance of Police stations within available resources. He assured to provide Police guards for the shifting of cash from one place to other and asked the MCCI body top inform the Police about the foreign visitors who come here for trade.Multan police introduced many new schemes as part of the police reforms project, including modern patrol units (with cars and heavy-bikes), Dolphin Police, digital operation rooms, anti-riot units, model police stations, smart checkpoints, and local surveillance system.RPO said that the Citizens Police Liaison Committee’s (CPLC) role is pivotal for curbing the heinous crimes especially the dacoities, kidnappings for ransom and extortion. The public-friendly project of the CPLC, the Neighbourhood Care Project (NCR) that keeps working round the clock is the real manifest of dedication and efficiency of the CPLC as this NCR has achieved great success in the eradication of crimes at street levels.The RPO while taking the role of police for the eradication of crimes from the ancient city of Multan which is called the city of Spiritual saints, urged upon the CPLC to take initiatives for taking  steps for the community policing mechanism having jurisdiction over a small area so that the Quick Response Force could respond rapidly in case of any emergency.The business community stressed the need for resolving the traffic problems in the city and to facilitate the citizens so that they could reach at their destinations well in time.But the Multan police had launched the initiative by utilising available resources and funds. Each model police station was established with an estimated cost of Rs1 million to Rs1.2 million. As part of the plan, a high-tech command and control system, public friendly waiting areas, investigation rooms, work stations and record keeping rooms have been developed in each model police station. Similarly, barracks with new bedding and mess rooms have been established for the well being of the policemen.The Chamber and Police agreed to organise a seminar on the security forthe awareness of business community.
