Lashkar-i-Jhangvi activists were convicted for killing 19 shias in Khanpur

MULTAN, Oct 29th: Anti Terrorism Court Rahimyarkhan judge Malik Bashir Ahmed has awarded death sentence 33 counts to four accused Shakil Ahmed alias Abdullah, Muhammad Shabbir alias Shero ,Muhammad Usman and Sultan Shahabuddin on the charge of bomb blast on the eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain in 2012 in Khanpur town which caused the death of 19 people,court official said. Another accused  Wajid Rasheed. a teenager was sentenced to life term imprisonment 33 count due to be teenager.The court official said that they belonged to proscribed organisation Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (Malik Ishaq Group). Police said that  A bomb exploded outside an Imam Bargah of Khanpur on January 15,2012 ,Resultantly 19 people were killed an another 50 injured.The case was instituted against eight persons  Wajid Rashid son of Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Nawaz, Shakil Ahmed,Muhammad Usman,Shabbir Ahmed, Majid Rashid,Sami-ullah  and Sultan Shahabuddin. Six of them were arrested while another two accused Majid Rashid and Samiullah were declared proclaimed offenders.They were tried in prison. An accused Muhammad Nawaz died in prison.
