2. He is among the 36 Indians to have a VVIP status and hence merits Z-level security, in addition to his own private guards.

The Dera chief is also accused of allegedly killing, in July 2002, sect manager Ranjit Singh. In 2002, a sadhvi had written an anonymous letter addressed to then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, accusing Ram Rahim of sexual abuse. In his defence, the self-styled godman had told Panchkula court that he is not mentally and physically fit to have sexual intercourse.

9. The Dera chief has earned the ire of Sikh radicals in the past, who accused him of allegedly dressing-up as the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh in 2007, following which Punjab had been on the boil for many days.

- His father, Maghar Singh, was a landlord in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district.
- His mother, Naseeb Kaur, was a very orthodox-woman and a god-fearing housewife.
- When Gurmeet was a child, Maghar Singh came in contact with Dera Sacha Sauda (founded by Baba Balochistani Beparwah Mastana ji).

She tried running away but it was too late. Nobody came to help her and she was raped by Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Somehow, she managed to escape later.
