The whole nation is commemorating the national Defence Day to honour and commemorate the sacrifices Pakistan Army's soldiers, who gave their lives for the defence of the motherland. Thousands of people thronged to Ayyub stadium of Multan to see the exhibition of defence equipments. They took keen interest in radar system, morter guns ,tanks and cobra helicopers. special security measures were taken to protect the lives of the visitors. Garrison Commander Major. General Muhammad Arif inaugurated the exhibition that remained open for the public till sunset, According to Press release issued by ISPR Multan here today.The exhibition has been organized by Multan Corps Military band continued to play war and nationals songs and a large number of people including students, families besides senior military officers gathered to witness the opening ceremony at the exhibition venue displaying modern weapons, helicopter gunship, tanks, radar system, machine guns and other equipment.War equipment remained the main focus of attention for school and college students. The visitors lauded the initiative of Pakistan Army and expressed the hope that such events would continue to be held in future.. Defense day of Pakistan was observed with full national zeal and spirit in Multan ,Bahawalpur, Okara and security forces of Pakistan have arranged various events in this regard, said a press release issued by ISPR here on Tuesday.Quran Khawani was also offered after Fajar prayer. Special event was arranged by the army units to shed light on the sacrifices of the armed forces for the stability and peace of the nation.On the day Armed forces also arranged special exhibition of the defense equipments in the army's Ayyub stadium on 6th September, various bands and fly fast will also be performed for the public on the occasion. A similar function was also held in the Bahawalpur where armed forces paid rich tributes martyrs and laid flower on their graves .
On 6th September 1965, Pakistan Army successfully defended an Indian army onslaught and was able to secure its borders after more than a couple days' intense war. The day commenced with special prayers for the country's security, progress and development. In various cities of Pakistan, small and large events celebrating the event of 1965 were held.
India's unprovoked act of aggression was met with a befitting response by Pakistan Army. Indian army violated Pakistan's borders and attacked first at midnight on September 6, 1965 at Bambanwala Ravi Bediyan (BRB) Canal. A small contingent of the Pakistani armed forces, which included the valiant Major Aziz Bhatti, were able to hold back the enemy, despite being small in number.
Change of guards ceremonies will also be held at the mausoleums of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Apart from senior politicians and government officials, senior military officials and the general public are also expected to lay floral wreaths at the mausoleums and offer prayers.
6th September was the day when Pakistan demonstrated to the world that it was capable of defending its borders against an enemy that was much lethal than it was. When the soldiers of Pakistan were able to push back the enemy and defeat its nefarious objectives.
Major Raja Aziz Bhatti is the most celebrated hero of the 1965 war and also a recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider.
