At least 26 people were arrested on Friday during a search operation conducted by police and the counter terrorism department in Vehari.Similarly,more than 50 suspects were held in Multan city.
Security forces raided restaurants and guest houses in the area to ensnare alleged financiers of banned militant outfits, sources said.
Police had received a tip off that militants who collects funds for the banned groups were holed up inside one of the hotels, the source added.Counter Terrorism Department, Rangers and other law enforcing agencies launched a search operation Multan city and detected huge number of illicit arms, swords. daggers ,pistols and other weapons.
The accused have been taken to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Eleven people were killed in road accidents during eid days in Multan and
adjacent areas. Three people were killed and two injured when a GLi car fell
into a ditch after breaking at fences. Similarly eight motorcyclists and
pillion riders were also killed at different Places. More than 150 people
mostly wheelies also injured. While police have arrested more than 100 youths
violating the traffic rules. 40 children were injured when a merry- go- round
broken accidently. They were hospitalised where their condition is stated to be
out of danger. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry
