MULTAN, June 21: Two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel critically injured when a locally made bomb device blast occurred at a house rented by CTD men in rural populous area, which created a panic in the entire rural area located on Multan-Khanewal road on Tuesday, police said.
It could not be established that why the bomb had been exploded and the CTD personnel were working on the bomb device at their ‘safe house’. CTD personnel Muhammad Khalid and Asmat Ali received critical injuries and parts of bomb ball bearings etc penetrated in their bodies leaving the room with blood.
City Police Officer Azhar Ikram told mediamen that two CTD officials were carrying explosives (case property) collected from crime scene to Multan CTD police station when the explosive accidently exploded and the injured had been shifted to hospital.
Residents of the village Jalwala told newsmen that police and CTD personnel were frequently visiting the house and villagers confirmed police personnel park the official vehicles in front of house. The villagers demanded shifting of CTD safe house from populous area. However ,No CTD official was ready giving version on the incident.
Police insiders said the CTD had got rented the house sprawl over one Kanal with kitchen and one room space. Officials confided the CTD police station received a call from the safe house, as caller says, “We are critically injured during the process of working on the bomb”. The caller disconnected and CTD officials quickly moved to the spot. The CTD team found blood stained injured personnel in the house on the arrival of house and the injured were quickly removed to the Nishtar hospital where their condition was stated to be in danger.
Police insiders said in fact the CTD has lacked with" Maal Khana" (Store)and the department temporarily stores recovered ammunition, bomb devices at the safe houses, which also used for investigation of criminals.
Some police officials were of the view that CTD personnel were might working on the device went off all of a sudden. It could not be established that where the CTD personnel had that device from. The bomb was weighing to 300 gram. Some investigators established the device had been exploded due to scorching heat and increase in temperarure.The CTD officials were investigation the matter,
