16 militants have been killed and several others injured in gun battle with security forces in Johan area of Kalat

At least 16 alleged militants have been killed and several others injured in gun battle with security forces in Johan area of Kalat district on Wednesday.The official sources told  that 16 militants were killed in security operation carried out in Johan area of Kalat district."Yes, 16 militants working for banned militant organizations were killed in exchange of fire with security forces in mountains of Johan area of Kalat district, " said Anwar Ul Haque Kakar, a spokesman of Balochistan government.

He said that several militants were also injured in the security operation. He said that the security forces destroyed two camps of the militants.

Balochistan Home Secretary, Cap (Retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani said that following intelligence information, security forces launched operation in mountains of Johan area which led to exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants. Sixteen militants were killed and as many as 20 others injured in the gun battle, he said.

He said that security forces have cordoned off the area. Further investigation was underway.
