Gulf Air, Bahrain’s principal flag carrier, has started its operations at the Multan

MULTAN,Dec 14th:Gulf Air, Bahrain’s principal flag carrier, has started its operations at the Multan International Airport (MIAP) on December 14, 2015. Gulf Air would become the seventh international airline to start operations at MIAP.The inaugural ceremony was attended by President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) Fareed Mughis Sheikh as chief Guest. Mr.Ghassan Khalil of Lebanon,Mr.Mahmood Abdullahsain Ali Akbar of Bahrain,Salim Moti wala Gulf air country Manager,and Airport Manager Tariq Gill also joined the ceremony.PIA, Shaheen Air International, Fly Dubai, Airblue, Qatar Airways and Emirates already conduct operations in Multan.

“Initially, Gulf Air would operate four weekly flights,” an official source of the Civil Aviation Authority said here on Monday. The airline currently operates scheduled services to 42 destinations in 23 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe, the source informed. Pegasus Airline, the second airline from Turkey, is also expected to begin its operations from Multan soon, added the source. Keeping the passenger load in view, some airlines have reduced their flights from Multan, the source said. “Pegasus is also likely to operate 4 weeklyflights.”MCCI President Fareed Mughis Sheikh  said that he was looking forward to large numbers of Bahrainis and Gulf residents visiting Multan after Gulf Air  has launched four direct flight a week from Bahrain.
“I truly hope we will have the pleasure to welcome more travelers from Bahrain and the Gulf to showcase this wonderful city with its special people,” MCCI President said. “Gulf Air’s direct flights to Multan will enhance tourism, cultural and civilisational exchange between the two friendly countries.”“I am delighted Gulf Air is directly connecting Multan and Bahrain.“This is truly a historic moment and I am confident our relations will continue to grow,”initially with a fleet of 16 Airbus A320s,Six each A 321 and A-330  .
