14 SMGs, 5 rifles, 8 pistols, 41 home-made bombs, and hundreds of bullets were recovered during the raids in Karachi

A large number of weapons and ammunition were recovered, as Rangers personnel carried out raids in different parts of Lyari and Bheempura areas of Karachi today.
According to Rangers spokesman, 14 SMGs, 5 rifles, 8 pistols, 41 home-made bombs, and hundreds of bullets were recovered during the raids. The raids were carried out on information provided by suspects who had already been arrested earlier.
The weapons were meant to be used to disrupt peace in Karachi, said the Rangers spokesman. Meanwhile, seven-member delegation of All Karachi Traders Union today held a meeting with Pakistan Rangers Director General (DG).
The delegation led by Atiq Mir informed the Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar about security concerns in case the targeted operation is stopped. Ranger’s spokesperson said that the meeting discussed security situation in the Sindh metropolitan.
DG Bilal Akbar assured the traders concerned that the paramilitary force would continue operation against criminals and violators of the law. The targeted operation would continue until conclusive end, he added.
The trade body representatives lauded the force’s efforts and role played to bring down the crime rate. The meeting took place at Rangers headquarters.
Earlier different trading bodies rallied and protested against cut in special powers of Rangers after Sindh government passed a conditional resolution. The protesters had raised slogans in favour of the paramilitary force and demanded unconditional extension in their special powers, to maintain law and order in the crime-stricken city.
Moreover, political party’s worker today lost life in a clash between two groups in Shah Faisal Colony, while law enforcers have detained more than thirty suspects in joint operation.
According to reports, a clash between two rival groups left one killed while two injured. Police said that the killed person was a political party’s worker. Following the violent clash, police and Rangers conducted a joint search operation. Entry and exit points of the area were sealed while a door-to-door check was done. The operation resulted in more than thirty detainees.
Earlier, Rangers had apprehended twenty criminals including banned outfit’s operatives and those belonging to armed wing of a political party. The law enforcers seized advanced weapons and explosives from their possession.
The culprits were apprehended in operations in Lyari, Surjani Town, Gulistan Johar, Orangi Town, Federal B Area, Sher Shah and Quaidabad. Separately, in Bhains Colony, police arrested two criminals involved in construction material theft. As many as 16 dumpers were also recovered.
