500 small farmers gifted with free anti-locust spray over 7000 acres

Multan, : JDW (Jamal Din Wali) Group of Jahangir Khan Tareen has voluntarily sprayed on 7000 acres of land to kill locust and to help the small farmers in Punjab and Sindh, this was told by Director General Management Cane Development JDW Unit 1 Rahim Yar Khan Nadeem Haider Chauhdry. He further told that 70 per cent area in Punjab and 30 per cent in Sindh on the boundary areas of Punjab and Sindh. The small towns and chaks Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad were chosen for pesticides’ spray. Around 500 farmers benefitted from the volunteer effort of Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Doctor Gulzar, General Manager Cane JDW Unit 2 Sadiqabad, told that the operation against locusts continued for four days. In this operation mounted vehicles, water board, tractors and other spraying equipment were used, he added. He told that hundreds of employees of JDW Group volunteered for this operation and played a key role in the success of this operation. The officers of JDW supervised the operation and guided the teams accordingly, he said.

Iftikhar Ahmad Bajwa, DGM Cane Ubauro, Sindh, told that this operation would be continued to facilitate and help small farmers. Our target is to spray 25000-30000 acres of land. The operation against locust is necessary to prevent potential food crises and for smooth supply of agricultural commodities, he added.

The grand operation against locust was highly appreciated by the local farmers. Haji Afzal, a small farmer said, “We are extremely grateful to Jahangir Khan Tareen and PTI led government for taking care of the needs of farmers. I belong to Mauza Sheikh Bakhar, Bahadurpur, we were extremely worried over this locusts attack but the aerial spray by Jahangir Khan Tareen has saved our crops”.

Rabnawaz, another farmer said that farmers have already been facing great losses. Timely action by Jahangir Khan Tareen and his employees have saved us from getting deprived of food, he added.
