Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana tendered his resignation as the governor of Punjab on Wednesday.
While speaking to journalists, Rajwana said that he would resume his profession as a lawyer after tendering his resignation from office of the governor.
Rajwana highlighted that he made his decision to resign after consultation with the PML-N leadership. “A new government has been formed and it should appoint the new governor of the province,” he added.
In 2015, Rajwana was appointed by the government of PML-N as the 36th governor of Punjab, succeeding Chaudhry Sarwar who had tendered resignation after differences with the government.
Chaudhry Sarwar, being tipped again as the upcoming governor of Punjab according to a decision of the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Last month, Muhammad Zubair also stepped down from the post of Sindh governor after the results of July 25 general elections.
