court in Muzaffargarh has sentenced a Muslim to death for sending a blasphemous
text message insulting to Prophet Mohammed (pbuh). their lawyer said Wednesday.Additional Session Judge Muzaffargarh Naveed
Ahmed handed the death sentence to Nauman Sherwani in a jail in the town of Muzaffargarh
on Tuesday, defence lawyer Shehzad Fareed Langarial told this scribe .Prosecution
department officials also confirmed the sentence. One Nauman Sherwani plotted
to implicate one Mehr Ali a security Guard in a case of blasphemy in 2013. He asked
him (Mehr Ali) to give him his cellphone for sending a message. After getting
the Mobile- phone he sent a blasphemous text on his own number. Then he levelled
an allegation of blasphemy on Mehr Ali who is a Shia by sect. Later he made
noise that Mehr Ali had committed an offence of blasphemy.Police arrested the
Mehr Ali on the complaint of Azhar Farooq an activist of Sipah-i-Sahaba. During
investigation Police unveiled the plot and it came to its knowledge that Mehr
Ali cannot write a text message then Police arrested the Nauman Sherwani. The
court acquitted Mehr Ali declaring him innocent. Nauman Sherwani said that
hewould appeal against the verdict in High Court. Azhar Farooq at the behest of
Nauman Sherwani in Muzaffargarh city a complaint against the Shia security Guard
in 2013 for sending a text message to Nauman which he said was insulting to
Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).
