MULTAN, May 5th: President Mamnoon Hussain arrived in Multan by his special plane on Thursday.The president was received by Multan division commissioner and the district administration officials at Multan International airport. He was accompanied by Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana and Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan.Later, the president left for Matti Tal, a suburban area of the city, by helicopter, to inaugurate a private medical college of Bakhtar Amin Hospital. Prof Dr.Shabbir Nasir Chairman of the Bakhtawar Amin Trust Hospital said ," Keeping in view the deficiency of health care facilities available to the population of the Southern Punjab in general and the population of the Multan Division in particular, The Trust decided ultimately to establish Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital, Northern Bypass, Multan. In order to obtain this challenging objective a big piece of land measuring about 12 acre was purchased on Northern Bypass, Multan for a handsome amount. A renowned architect was engaged to design a 500 bedded hospital. The present designed hospital would consist of 7 blocks as under:- Out Patient Block,Emergency Block, Diagnostic Block, Diagnostic Block, Medical Block , Surgical Block , Mother & Child Care (MCA) and Services Block.Total cost of land, construction, medical equipment and diagnostic equipment has so far been Rs. 188 Million. At present it consists of 70 beds with the latest amenities. The hospital has become functional under the following heads. General Surgery , Plastic Surgery, Pathology ,Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Obs & Gynae, Pediatrics ,ENT, General Medicines Physiotherapy, Radiology, Accident & Emergency (A & E).
A patient suffering from serious jaw ache was denied entry at a hospital in Multan due to security protocol of President Mamnoon Hussain in the city.The man was brought to Dental Hospital where security denied him entry owing to Mamnoon’s arrival. He was then referred to Nishtar Hospital which was at least one-and-a-half hour off the spot he was lying.The family of boy had to move him on foot as all roads had been closed for vehicular traffic as part of protocol for President.The boy had an accident and resultantly he had suffered fracture in his jaw bone. Footages of the incident showed the boy was grimacing in pain lying on a stretcher. The move drew strong reaction among other political leaders who demanded ban on VVIP movements.PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi said life of a citizen was equally important like those of a politician. He said such steps should not be taken that may cripple life of denizens.Earlier The joint operation was conducted by police and Law Enforcement Agencies in Barhwala, Bakhtawar Umeed hospital, and surroudings during which hotels and guest houses were also checked.Nine suspects having incomplete identification documents were arrested and shifted to unknown destinations.
