Nine terrorists killed in two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan: ISPR

Security forces killed nine terrorists belonging to Indian backed Fitna al-Hindustan during two Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in Balochistan's Kachhi and Wadh districts, the military's media wing said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted following reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to an Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan.

The federal government last year officially designated all terrorist groups operating in Balochistan as Fitna al-Hindustan, accusing India of sponsoring a proxy war through the outfits.

In the first operation in Kachhi district, security forces targeted a terrorist hideout, resulting in an intense exchange of fire. “After an intense fire exchange, seven Indian sponsored terrorists were sent to hell,” ISPR said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the operation, the statement added.

In a separate intelligence-based operation in Wadh district, security forces tracked and intercepted the movement of terrorists, leading to another intense exchange of fire.

According to ISPR, two Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed during the operation, while weapons and ammunition were also recovered.

The military's media wing said sanitisation operations were underway to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorist found in the area.

"Relentless counter terrorism campaign under vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement Agencies of Pakistan would continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country," the statement concluded.

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for their operations and praised their professionalism in destroying terrorist hideouts and killing terrorists.

“The conspiracies of terrorists' foreign sponsors and their local facilitators will be foiled,” President Zardari said. He reaffirmed the nation's support for the security forces and law enforcement agencies, saying, “The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its security forces and law enforcement agencies.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the security forces, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The prime minister praised the professionalism of security forces' officers and personnel for killing Indian-sponsored terrorists during the operations. “We would continue the fight against terrorism until this menace is completely eliminated from the country,” he said.

He commended the efforts of security forces and law enforcement agencies towards the complete elimination of terrorism and the establishment of lasting peace in the country.

The prime minister maintained that terrorists seeking to undermine Pakistan's security and peace would never succeed in their “nefarious designs”. “The entire nation, including myself, stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in their unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism,” he added.

On October 23, Security forces killed 10 terrorists, including a woman, during operations in Gwadar after Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists attempted attacks near the Gabd border crossing and in Gwadar city, the military’s media wing said.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist activity over the past three months, with a series of attacks across the country resulting in the martyrdom of security personnel and civilians.

Last week, 12 people were killed and 35 others injured when a blast struck a joint checkpoint near Aman Mela in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan, with the TTP claiming responsibility for the attack.

On September 19, 23 people, including 15 police personnel, were martyred in a blast at a mosque in Kohat’s Police Lines during Friday prayers. Eight terrorists were also killed during a subsequent search and clearance operation. Later, the Ittihadul Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP), led by Afghanistan-based Hafiz Gul Bahadur, claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing and rampage involving multiple attackers.

In a separate incident, a captain and a lieutenant were among six security personnel martyred in an exchange of fire in Hangu district, while eight terrorists were killed.

On September 1, six personnel, including two officers, and a customs department official were martyred as security forces thwarted an attempt to breach the Customs House in Balochistan.

In July, at least 30 people, including 27 police personnel, were martyred when terrorists identified by the state as the Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan ambushed police personnel deployed in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat, triggering hours-long gun battles. The attackers also abducted several civilians and police personnel after the assault.
