Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson says that a meeting between American and Iranian officials yesterday occurred via a Qatari mediator, state broadcaster IRIB reports.
“Iran’s conditions were relayed, including ending the war on all fronts, stopping US aggression, halting the maritime blockade and economic warfare and releasing Iran’s blocked assets,” the broadcaster adds.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that President Donald Trump is still open to making a deal with Iran to end the war.
“The core issue here is that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” he tells reporters in New York. “The president is open, still to this moment, to making a deal with Iran that allows Iran to be what it should be, which is a great and prosperous country.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says a deal with Iran involves hard work over a period of time, telling reporters that President Donald Trump also has military options.
