The floods caused casualties and widespread damage in Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Ghazni, Kabul, Kapisa, Panjshir, Parwan, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces, according to a WHO report.At least 300 households were affected in Nuristan and Laghman provinces alone.
The WHO said it has deployed three mobile health teams, in coordination with its health partners, to provide medical services to flood-affected communities.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) in Afghanistan announced that 29 people have been killed, 129 injured, and four remain missing after recent flash floods swept parts of eastern, southeastern and central Afghanistan.
According to the report, the provinces of Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Ghazni, Kabul, Kapisa, Panjshir, Parwan, Logar and Maidan Wardak were affected, with the floods causing casualties and widespread property damage.
The organisation added that, in coordination with its health partners, it deployed three mobile health teams to the affected areas to provide medical services to flood victims.
