A renowned Afghan female singer has voiced annoyance over the circulation of false information regarding her death, saying that she had a car accident in Pakistan after which someone took her picture and spread it across various social media platforms.
"The media should have contacted me directly, as well as my family, particularly my mother, since she too was involved in the car incident and is alive," Hasiba Noori said in a video statement.
Noori said the dissemination of such misinformation and misrepresentation has also caused distress to her family back in Afghanistan. She urged everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information, stressing that such actions were unacceptable.
"I feel safe and appreciate the support of various media platforms. They have not caused me any distress. My work continues unabated, just as it did in Afghanistan," the Afghan singer stated.
"Nobody in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has threatened me, nor has anyone forced me to give up my singing career. All reports suggesting otherwise are false and fabricated.“It is a request to Afghan brothers and sisters that if someone tells you that such and such a person has cut off your ear, please put your hand on your ear and check if it is true before running after him.”Additionally, she said that her phone was lost in the accident, preventing her from posting updates on her social media accounts.
38 years old had fled the Taliban from Afghanistan in 2021 and sought refuge in Pakistan.
Hasiba Noori was a well known female vocalist.
Earlier, in an interview, she had spoken about the difficulties the Taliban caused her and Afghan women. She was reportedly living with her mother in Islamabad.
The famous Pashto singer had performed on various Afghan TV channels. Her known songs are "Sabza Janam”, “Ala Yaram” and “Mina”.
Hasiba Noori, a female Afghan singer seeking refuge in Pakistan, was tragically killed in an attack by unknown gunmen, according to media reports.
A woman is the easiest target and countries with no accountability or an effective criminal justice system witness such tragedies more than the developed countries.
Very sad that women in our part of the world keep being attacked in different ways, keep being violated in different ways and life goes on as if nothing happened.
That itself is a tragedy and only happens in dead societies. It’s Hasiba today, tomorrow it could be me or anyone of you reading my tweet.
We have never really tried to understand the sanctity of human life. It’s the most precious according to Islam. Unfortunately, she’s not the first and she won’t be the last either.
