Nine years after kidnapping, Nigerian army again finds two “schoolgirls from Chibok”,96 are missing

The Nigerian army has recovered two young women who were abducted by the Boko Haram terrorist organization in 2014 along with other 275 schoolgirls. In the meantime, 14 girls have been found in recent years, the army reported Today.96 girls are still missing 

The army presented Hauwa Maltha and Esther Marcus to the press on Thursday. They were already rescued on April 21. They were 12 years old at the time of the kidnapping. They were forced to marry Boko Haram jihadists.

Hauwa Maltha is pregnant and already has a three-year-old child. She has already married three different jihadists, General Ibrahim Ali said. Esther Marcus has already had to marry a jihadist twice. They were forced to marry, Hauwa Maltha testified.

On April 14, 2014, 276 girls, aged 12 to 17, were abducted from a school in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria. The Boko Haram kidnapping operation sparked outrage worldwide. Many victims have since been released or found.

Of the 276 girls, 57 were able to flee and 80 others were released after an exchange for Boko Haram officials following negotiations with the government. Other girls were later found, most of them now had children. 96 girls are still missing.
