Make policies to arrest inflation, poverty, unemployment and uncertainty- Jalaluddin Roomi

Multan, Former caretaker Punjab minister for industry, ex-President of Multan & Dera Ghazi khan chamber of commerce and industry Khawaja jalal-uddin Roomi stressed the need for combating the rapidly growing inflation, poverty, uncertainty and joblessness on a war footing basis. The entire nation is looking towards Government and its policies which had equally affected the common man and shattered their confidence. These views were expressed by Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi at a  luncheon
hosted by him in honour of the caretaker provincial minister of industry and commerce S.M Tanveer. Roomi said that prices of essential commodities have gone high sky and inflation swelled to 31.5 per cent which is the highest in the last 75 years
of history. Utility tariff has also increased by 100 to 200 per cent which had added to the miseries of the masses.  What has happened is not seen in the past. Especially the sharp increase in food, electricity and gas prices has worried everyone. Kissan package and concessions as well as incentives for the export industry were withdrawn. interest rate increased to 20 per cent.

All these measures taken by Government made the doing business unviable. Survival of investors is not possible in such economic suffocation. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said Pakistan is an agricultural country and our agriculture can strengthen our economy besides helping in debt servicing. At this time we need agriculture-based industrialization, boosting production and making the country self-sufficient in edible oil, cotton, and wheat. pulses etc. Our Success will be possible when " Made in Pakistan" products would be available in global and local markets for sale and our exports would be doubled For this purpose, it is not fair to remove subsidies on electricity and gas for industries which are growing rapidly. At this time, it is necessary to control the theft and line losses of electricity, gas and to eradicate corruption instead of removing subsidies for industries.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi added in his address that the cotton crop has also been affected due to climate change. The government should implement the Cotton Control Act and announce the support price of cotton before the sowing season. Excise duty and other taxes on cotton ginners should be abolished. He suggested that There should be no permission to grow sugarcane in the cotton zone and all sugar mills must be shifted to non-cotton zones.

The caretaker provincial minister for industry and commerce S.M Tanveer thanked the host and said I always like to come to Multan because the people of Multan are very sweet like their mangoes. All those things are very important in the context of today's situation. He said that due to some tight conditions of IMF , the present government was facing a very embarrassing situation we had to face various crises, which will be overcome soon. At present, the full focus is on the rapid recovery of the industrial and agricultural sectors. We believe that if the industrial and agricultural sectors are prosperous, the country will be prosperous.

SM Tanveer in his address said that the Caretaker Government has less time and limited mandate, but despite this the problems related to the province of industrialists, agriculture and cotton producers are assured to be resolved soon. He said that the implementation of the Cotton Control Act will be done and efforts will be made to fix the support price of cotton before sowing so that the area under cotton cultivation can be increased and the farmer can get adequate compensation for the crop. White gold is an important source of foreign exchange for us. Steps will be taken to increase the production of cotton per acre. The annual requirement of cotton in the country is one and a half million bales, but the current production of cotton in Pakistan is 46 million bales.
