US-Pakistan enjoys good bilateral relations- USCG William Makaneole


The United States wants to see Pakistan  as an economically strong , porperous and peaceful  state . We are expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy and climate change, health and education, IT and tech and agriculture. The importance of trade over aid. We will continue cooperation in defence and CT sectors.”.These views expressed by American Consul General William Makaneole while exchanging views at a dinner hosted by noted industrialist, Former Punjab caretaker Minister for industries, Ex-President of Multan & Dera Ghazi Khan chamber of Commerce and Industry Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi here today. He said that United states is no doubt a friend of in need which comes to the rescue of Pakistan whenever it requires.He said that  US govt is stood with Pakistan Government in the natural calamity of flood due to incessant rains and it was playing key in alleviating the miseries of flood affectees and their rehabilitation. 

William Makaneole has assured his full support and assistance in creating business-to-business linkages to promote bilateral trade between the US and Pakistan.

Makaneole expressed gratitude over the warm welcome and assured his full support and assistance for promoting Pakistan-US trade. He said that joint efforts would be made to enhance the role of women entrepreneurs in the economic development of Pakistan. He said that People of Multan are so sweet like their mangoes.. It is a historical and most ancient city and its people  are symbols of hospitability .But their business vision is also very appreciable . US  wants to improve education and health, end energy crisis and poverty in Pakistan. In this regard, America has been working on various projects in Pakistan for a long time. The fruits of which are now emerging .I had the pleasure of meeting industrialists, farmers, educationists, doctors, writers, poets and other people from Multan who are doing excellent service in their respective fields. And they have excellent skills in every field of life.

Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi, in his welcome speech said that the eminent personalities from all walks of life are there and we welcome the distinguished guests in world's most ancient city of Multan which is also known as city of spiritual saints. He said that Pakistan and America's friendship is based on sincerity.I take advantage of your presence today to ask the American government to reduce the duties on cotton so that the volume of trade between the two countries can increase,he added.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi further said that for the past several years our governments are taking practical steps to empower women and include them in the main stream of development. This is the reason why Women Chambers Entrepreneur is also fully represented in today's event. Currently, American companies are interested in investing in various sectors including technology. So, there are vast opportunities to increase trade and investment between Pakistan and America.

Throwing light on the services of Jalaluddin Roomi foundatiuon (JRF-Pakistan), he said it is responding with the Government  helping to deliver safe drinking water; lifesaving medical supplies; JRF is also establishing temporary shelters and supporting the protection and psychosocial wellbeing of children affected by these devastating floods.But much more is needed to ensure we can reach all families displaced by floods and help them overcome this climate disaster.Torrential monsoon rains have triggered the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, washing away villages and leaving around 3.4 million children in need of assistance and at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning and malnutrition. 

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi added that good diplomatic relations are the need of the hour to promote the textile industry, that business activities can play an important role in strengthening mutual relations. Besides, tourism, trade, education between Pakistan and America. And there is a wide range of business opportunities. By promoting which we can promote economic activities. Currently our economy is facing a big crisis due to floods. For that we want better relations with America so that our economy could stand on strong feet as soon as possible.
