Bodies of pregnant women, 2 children among 5 found in well in Rajasthan

The bodies of three women and two children were found in a well in Jaipur district’s Dudu town on Saturday. The murdered women, who were siblings, were identified as Kalu Devi, Mamta, and Kamlesh. The two kids — one aged four and the other just 27 days — were Kalu Devi’s children.

What made the crime worse was the fact that Mamta Devi and Kamlesh were both full-term pregnant.

The well in which their bodies were found is around 2 km from their homes. Their in-laws allegedly killed them over dowry demand.

Although the five were reported missing on Wednesday, local sources said that the police failed to launch a search for them till Saturday. A local said that Kalu Devi had to be hospitalised 15 days after being thrashed by her in-laws. She sustained eye injuries and had just gotten back from the hospital.

A 35-year-old woman and her two children were found dead in the Sodala area of Jaipur . Police said that the woman killed her kids before ending her own life.

Police have identified the victim as Kanya Sahu and her two children, Rohit (12) and Pawan (8). Police suspect that a domestic dispute in the family might have triggered the woman to kill her two sons and then end her own life. Kanya's husband is an auto-driver by profession and the entire family lived in rented accommodation on Ajmer Road near Sodala police station area.

However, a preliminary investigation has ruled out the possibility of any foul play in the murders

Upon receiving the information, a team from Sodala police reached the crime spot and examined the scene. Kanya was found hanging from the ceiling of a rope and his sons were found dead on a nearby bed.

DCP North Mridul Kachawa was quoted by the Times of India (TOI) as saying that that the victims were taken to the hospital but were declared dead. According to police, Kanya had strangulated Rohit and Pawan and then killed herself.

Police have also learnt that one of the deceased son's was specially abled. The bodies were sent to the mortuary of the hospital and the family members remained inconsolable.
