At least four die in Mumbai’s Naval Dockyard blast

At least four naval personnel (Sailors) died and eleven others injured seriously in a blast onboard Indian Navy warship INS Ranvir on Tuesday, Indian media reported.

Explosion ripped through the ‘destroyer’ warship docked at the Mumbai Harbour, Hindustan Times reported.

According to the report, 11 injured sailors were undergoing treatment at a local naval hospital.

The explosion reportedly happened in an internal compartment onboard the warship. "Responding immediately, the ship's crew brought the situation under control," Indian navy officials were quoted as saying.

They said the warship was on cross-coast operational deployment from the Eastern Naval Command and was due to return to base port shortly.

“A board of inquiry has been ordered to investigate into the cause,” an official was quoted by ANI as saying.
