Clean Drinking Water for all is our dream - Governor Punjab


Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar has said that 100 million people across the province will get access to clean drinking water through the installation of water filtration plants by the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority by the end of December 2021 and 1500 water supply projects were initiated in the province.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of water filtration plant at Cantonment Railway station Multan under Aab-e-Pak Authority on Friday, he said that work on various water filtration plants worth Rs5 billion had started, adding that all departments deserved adulation for working in unison for the success of the project. Punjab Minister for Energy Dr.Akhtar Malik, Renowned industrialist, Ex-President of Multan Chamber and Sitting President of DGCCI,and member of Board of Governor of Aab-e-Pak authority Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, Chairman of Aab Paki Authority Dr.Shakil Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner Multan Ali Shehzad were accompanied by him.

The governor said the promise of providing clean drinking water to the people in all districts of South Punjab was being fulfilled by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan had started unprecedented public welfare projects like Ehsas Programme and others during a short stint of about three years.

Governor said that previous Governments had also started clean water projects but 80 percent of them are lying closed due to their wrong policies, mismanagement and Corruption.He said that water filtration plants would be installed irrespective of political affiliation. He said that water purification plants are being installed in the constituencies of elected representatives without any discrimination of opposition or ruling party.

Governor said that Prime Minister imran Khan distributed Rs.200 billion among the poor people of all political parties without any discrimination.

Governor Punjab Ch.Muhammad Sarwar said that Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi is a beacon of light for all well-to-do people who was playing a leading role initiating the clean water projects in South Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh etc .He also played a key role in installation of a number of water filtration plants at District Jail, Qadar pur Ran and other places.

Governor Punjab was highly impressed with the involvement of Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi in welfare projects.He eulogised his services for the cause of needy and down trodden people.

Member of Board of Governor of Aab-e-Pak Authority,Khawaja Jalaluddin roomi told the audience that eleven water filtration plants were upgraded in Multan to provide arsenic-free water to the consumers.He said that 80 non-operational filteration plants would be activated and upgraded in due course of time.He vowed that Roomi family would fulfil its responsibilities to keep all water filtration plants operational.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that 70 new water filtration plants are being installed in Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan. Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Chairman Dr Shakeel Ahmad also elaborated the clean water project. Punjab Minister for Energy Dr.Akhtar Maliksaid that all water filtration or purification plants are being converted on solar energy to save electricity and expenses.
