Australian High Commissioner Geoffery Shaw called on Jalaluddin Roomi


MULTAN, Feb 25th: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Geoffrey Shaw, called on the Punjab Agriculture Committee(PAC) member and Director Punjab Investment Board, noted industrialist cum agriculturist, Ex-President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI)  and sitting President of Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce & Industry and ex-Provincial caretaker Minister for Industries Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi here today and exchanged views on bilateral trade between two countries.Later he visited Roomi Fabrics  mills and appreciated the quality and standard of products.

Australian High Commissioner Dr. Geoffrey Shaw said  that keeping in view that the existing potential of Pakistan, his country would explore further opportunities for enhancing trade relations between the two countries.

The high commissioner said that Pakistan was at the heart of a regional market with a large population, diverse resources, and untapped potential for trade. He said the Australian government invests in the people of Pakistan through Australian Aid Programs in the spheres of health and education.

Australia is a supporter of Pakistan’s prosperity, stability and development. In 2020, Australia has re-oriented its development cooperation to help Pakistan deal with the COVID19 emergency, such as by funding the purchase of ventilators, supporting Ehsaas nutrition centers and assisting women in lockdown. This has been in addition to our long-running development cooperation to better manage scarce water resources, improve agricultural productivity and promote gender equality.

Appreciating the services of Jalaluddin Roomi for the welfare of human being welfare ,the high commissioner said that he was providing health and education facilities in backward areas of Pakistan besides taking efforts for alleviation of poverty and provision of clean water.Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi Chief Executive of Roomi Fabrics told on the occasion that South Punjab is a central place in Pakistan and it would be a hub of industrialisation in near future because Government was considering to establish a Special Economic zone in Muzaffargarh .He said that Australia can help Pakistan in achieving  the target of 20 million bales of cotton production by providing good germinated seed, latest technology and guidance. He said that Australia was one of the first countries to formally recognize the new nation of Pakistan in 1947. Since then, the relationship has strengthened and deepened. We have much in common – including our shared love of cricket and historical ties – which provides a solid foundation to advance the relationship further.
