UNICEF donates $ 50,000 for water treatment Plant of Multan- Governor


MULTAN, Jan 29th: Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar has said that  UNICEF has donated 50,000 US dollars to reactivate the water treatment plant of Multan city as there  is an immediate need to take protective measures and treatment technologies to overcome the unhygienic condition of drinking water supplies in different areas of Multan. 

Exchanging views with noted Industrialist, former provincial caretaker Minister for Industry ex-President of MCCI and sitting President of DGCCI Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi at Governor House he said that the Present Government was working on war footing to boost the cotton production to make the country self-sufficient in cotton production.

He assured that Government would give incentives to growers to bring maximum area under cotton crop in core-cotton areas of South Punjab besides providing good quality  and well-germinated seed to increase per acre yield.

Governor said that Government was fully aware of the problems confronted by the farmers and said that People would listen to the good news about the agricultural revolution as  Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking an interest and personally monitoring the steps being taken in this regard.

Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said on the occasion that being a follower of your vision, we have joined hands with  Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority and doing work on different water projects in South Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh.He said that  Pakistan has been blessed by nature with enough surface and groundwater resources but  Industrialization, urbanization, and rapid population growth have placed a huge stress on water resources

Appreciating the cooperation and services of Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi,
Governor Punjab said that we are observing some good, positive and productive changes in South Punjab due to your work in Public health and water purification network.

When Governor told him that UNICEF wants to activate the water treatment plant of Multan and it had donated 50,000 US dollars(Rs.8 million) Jalaluddin Roomi assured him that we would look after this water treatment plant on a permanent basis and we would continue our cooperation with Aab-e-Pak Authority in water projects.

Chairman, Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Dr.Shakil Ahmed was also present there.
