At least ten people were killed and 22 others were injured when a high-speed passenger bus overturned on Bela National Highway in Lasbela district of Balochistan early Wednesday.
According to reports, among the deceased were also two levies personnel deployed at the check post which the bus hit before it overturned whereas the injured had been shifted to a local hospital
Edhi officials said that the bus was en-route from Quetta to Karachi.
The deceased have been identified as Sepoy Mohammad Aslam, resident of Rijal Bela; Sepoy Muhammad Yusuf Ameen, resident of Doda Bela; Naz who is identified as the wife of Abdul Sattar; Zulaikha, resident of Panjgur, Haleem Jan Akbar Baloch, resident of Panjgur, Gul Shama Sabir, resident of Panjgur; Noordan Majid, resident of Panjgur and Bismillah Omar Majid, resident of Panjgur.
The injured have been identified as Sepoy Gulam Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Alyas, Muhmmad Yaqoon Iqbal, Muhamad Saleem Baloch, Hameedullah Abdulmajid Qaoum Mirwani, Nouroz Khan Abdul Sattar, Sagar Sabir Qaum and Fatima who had been identified as wife of Majid.
Condolence
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of precious human lives due to the accident.
He condoled with bereaved family members and prayed for the departed souls.
“We are with the bereaved families in this difficult time,” CM Kamal said.
While praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, CM Kamal said that best medical facilities should be provided to them.
Last year in December it was reported that at least 13 people, including seven members of a family, were burnt alive and 34 others injured after a collision between a passenger van and a bus near Narang Mandi.
The accident took place 4km away from Narang Mandi on Kala Khatai Road near Darbar Syed Miran.
The deceased were so badly burnt that only eight of them could be identified by their relatives.
The bodies of seven identified victims of the same family were shifted to Bado Malhi, Derawala village.
The eighth body was taken to an area near Shahfara an Kala Khatai Road. The Kala Khatai Road is known as a dangerous route by commuters as every year several accidents causing a large number of casualties to take place on it.
