LHC Multan Bench heard a case against " Google" for offensive contents.

MULTAN, Dec 30th: Chief Justice Lahore High Court Mr.Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Wednesday heard a case against "Google" for not removing offensive, blasphemous and derogatory conents.and adjourned the hearing till January 20,2021 Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority(PTA) Amir Azeem Bajwa, Federal Secretary Interior, Yousaf Nasim Khokhar,  Director General FIA, Wajid Zia, Director Cyber Crime Abdul Rab , Deputy Attorney General Asad Bajwa and Petitioner Shehzad Diryal, and his lawyers Luqman Habib, Bilal Riaz, Muhammad Faizan Maqsood, Waqas Abrar, Sajid Iqbal Lashari and Mian Muhammad Shakil joined the proceedings. Chairman PTA submitted that we had blocked millions of objectionable websites in Pakistan and 19 websites of Qadianis were also removed. Now we are contacting the Google administration to get remove the offensive contents. Upon this, the learned court asked Will it be difficult for Qadianis to develop new websites with US domains. When the petitioner made hue and cry in the court that FIA was not ready to register a complaint against the Google management and Qadianis. Then coourt asked Wajid Zia why not being registered a complaint when they are bound to register a complaint under rule 154 prior to investigation and collecting evidences.  Wajid Zia replied that FIA cannot register any complaint without inquiry and evidences against anyone."you should file a case against Google if you can, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Qasim Khan told the FIA during a hearing on Wednesday.Justice Khan was hearing a petition seeking the removal of offensive content on the internet.If someone is sitting abroad and spreading offensive content, what can the FIA do, asked the judge. He was informed by the government’s lawyer that the FIA is investigating such cases.What kind of riyasat-e-Madina (state of madina) are we that we can’t even fulfill our basic responsibilities, he asked.Justice Khan said the FIA should have a wing to check and remove offensive content.The government can either block the entire system or say that it won’t do anything, he said.He questioned whether a case can even be lodged against Google authorities. If you have the powers, then file a case against Google, he said.The FIA has been given 22 days to tell court if it can file a case.
