India: 13 people killed in Uttar Pradesh gas cylinder blast

At least 13 people were killed after a two-storey building collapsed following a blast in a gas cylinder in Walidpur area in Mau district on Monday.
"Bodies of the 12 dead have reached the mortuary and six injured have been admitted to a hospital. The debris is being removed by an NDRF team," said Mau district magistrate Gyan Prakash Tripathi.People in the area said that they heard a loud explosion and flames erupted from the damaged building soon after.Later in the day, the toll rose to 13 while six others were injured.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident in which 13 people have died. He has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and directed that DM and SP and all officers to immediately provide all possible relief and medical help to the injured persons.According to the state's Home Department sources, the impact of the blast was so strong that the two-storey house in Walidpur village where it took place was blown to smithereens
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and has directed the district officials to provide proper treatment to the injured. He said that all necessary help should be provided to the survivors.
Reports said that many more could be buried under the debris which was now being removed. The exact number of injured persons was not immediately known.
Senior police officials have reached the spot and the local residents are helping in the rescue operations.
