Six killed in van firing at Hangu, Seven assailants held

Six passengers, including a woman and child, were killed and four others sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a van at Zargari in the limits of Doaba Police Station on Saturday, official sources told South Punjab News. Police claimed that it was an ourcome of old enmity and it was not a terror activity.
They said that the members of a rival group were on way home in Shamshadin Banda after attending the court hearing in Hangu kutchery when their van was ambushed at Zargari. Resultantly, six persons identified as Habibullah, Muhammad Tufail, Badshah, Momin, Rustam and wife of Talib Khan were killed on the spot. Talib Khan, Habib Khan, Shaukat Khan and another woman were wounded.
The dead and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Hangu wherefrom two of the injured were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar as they had suffered serious injuries.Police said that Shah Momin group opened firing on van to kill Jan Akber group persons and as a result Habib Ullah son of Jan Akber and five other passengers including a woman died. The reason behind the incident was stated to be old enmity. The injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital. The police have registered a case and started investigation.On Sunday, the Hangu police claim to have arrested seven suspects in connection with an attack on a passenger van that killed six people and injured four others a day earlier.
On its way to Zargiri, the attack on the van occurred inside Hangu.
It is believed one of the passengers had a personal feud with the attackers, who have been arrested by law enforcement agencies. All seven are relatives to each other.
A search operation in the Zargiri area led to their arrest, and a Kalashinkov and handgun were also recovered from the suspects' possession.
