An accused of blasphemy acquitted by Session Court in Multan

MULTAN, August 6th: District and Session Judge Multan Suhail Ikram has announced the verdict of a blasphemy case instituted against a Muslim Khalil Ahmed and  acquitted him as the prosecution failed to prove him guilty in this case.Lawyer of the accused Syed Athar Shah Bukhari contended that a false case was instituted against Khalil Ahmed for sequel to vengeance and vendetta on the complaint of Syed Muhammad Ramzan Shah Faizi organiser of Jamaat Ahle-Sunnat who had allegedly personal grievance against him. A Muslim of Syed family Khalil Ahmed son Eidu R/O Bava Safra Multan city was an accused of blasphemy for alleged utterances against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islam on May 27,2014 and Twelve significant scholars and prayer leaders including Haji Kanwar Akhtar Ali custodian of Noori Mosque Dera Muhammadi, Haji Muhammad Akbar member of Mosque committee, Muhammad Bashir (A worshipper) Sardar Allah Divaya Lashari Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council, Qari Abu Bakar Usman, Vice President Pakistan Ulema Council, Qari Abdul Ghaffar, Principal Jamia Abdullah, Sahibzada Aziz Rasool Saifi Amir Halqa Saifia, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Gilani  Khateeb Jamia Noor-un-Nisa,Dr.Muhammad Nawaz Suharwardi of Jamiat Mosque Madina Gulshan and Rana Sabir Ali  provided their recorded evidence.Khalil Ahmed was tried for alleged offence but prosecution could not prove the allegations thus he was acquitted today. Syed Athar Shah Bukhari advocate said that Khalil Ahmed is one of the rare cases of blasphemy charges in which the accused was acquitted.It took five long years to conclude the trial.During trial,his lawyers tried his the best to bail him out but failed. Khalil Ahmed and his family suffered a lot during half a decade.His lawyer played a key role to convince the society member that this case was fabricated and an abortive attempt to take him to death row in a case of blasphemy . Even his close friends and relatives isolated him due to the pressure of religion dominated society. However, the court upheld the request for acquittal filed by the legal expert Athar Shah Bukhari , even if the complainants could appeal. "But even though he is now free and acquitted of the charges" for the fanatics he remains a blasphemer", notes the lawyer.The lawyer notes: "Khalil Ahmed was released, though he was on bail but suffering due to the charge of blasphemy which he did not commit, because we showed that there was no evidence against him and his case was seriously addressed by me". Khalil Ahmed was arrested in Multan in May 2014  for alleged blasphemy following a private dispute with a so-called organiser of Jamaat Ahle- Sunnat  , Muhammad Ramzan Faizi.However he granted bail and contested the case properly.Khalil Ahmed was happy on his acquittal and said that he got a new life.
