Two Pakistani sisters living in India for 24 years get Indian citizenship

Two Pakistani women Nida Naseem and Mahrukh Naseem, born in Karachi and living in India since 1995, have been granted Indian citizenship after 24 years.
Nida and Mahrukh Naseem’s father was an Indian national and their mother was a Pakistani citizen. They got married in 1989.
According to India Today, Mahrukh was born in 1991 and Nida was born in 1995 in Karachi and then they moved to India, since 1995 they had been living there.
The women’s mother was granted Indian citizenship in 2007. However, Nida and Mahrukh who have been living in India for the last 24 years, continued to face problems.
Finally they were finally granted Indian citizenship on March 23, 2019.
Both Nida and Mahrukh have thanked PM Narendra Modi for help.
Speaking to Indian media, Mahrukh Naseem said, "Since my mother was a Pakistani, we faced issues related to our nationality.”
