Visually-impaired men protest for jobs across the country

Visually impaired men took to the streets on not being granted their share in government jobs. The protesters blocked Liaqat Chowk at Murree Road at 9am. Protest of blind men continued in Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Karachi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan for acceptance of their demands.
The Blind Association Chairman Nabeel Ahmed Satti accused the district administrations of all the districts of Punjab & Sindh of not recruiting educated blind people despite clear orders by the Punjab government. “We are denied any relaxation in university admissions, public transport fares and other things despite being visually impaired,” he added.
He stated that the administration had not kept the promise to give visually impaired people 3% job quota which it made many times earlier and pledged that they would not go away this time until their demands were met.
The protest halted the traffic flow owing to which commuters faced several difficulties.
