MULTAN, There would be no need to lend foreign debts if our Agro-based industry is improved and strengthened to the extent of survival of Pakistan and its producers but ill-conceived agricultural policies and non-availability of well germinated and certified seed pushed us to zero point.Pakistan is capable to produce 20 million cotton bales, Edible oil-seed,pulses and other products but we are exporting Soya bean, Canola, Olive oil,pulses, even garlic and ginger from neighbouring states,said Muhammad Sarfraz President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI)while addressing the probationers of 46th Common Training Programme of Civil Services Academy Lahore who came to visit Multan Chamber and to exchange views on the problems confronted by the people of this neglected area. He suggested that we can achieve economic targets easily by utilising modern technology, new techniques,fresh implements and making this sector profitable. This sector provides jobs to 60 percent people and check the influx of rural population to cities.He said that our policies must be according to the ground realities. He said that Pakistan earn maximum foreign exchange by exporting its fresh vegetables, fruits ,grains by improving the packaging ,processing ,preservation, Phyto-sanitation to the international level..Drawing the attention of officer, MCCI chief said that they should have to change their mindset and they should have to perform their duties honestly and upto entire satisfaction of the Public which pay you salaries and provide all possible facilities. He said that they should keep their doors open to provide easy access. Coordinator of the probationers briefed that the Common Training Program aims to promote harmony among the probationary officers belonging to various regions and Federal Services of Pakistan as well as understanding of social political, economic, administrative and national security related issues that confront Pakistan. Along with equipping probationary officers with necessary administrative skills, the program also aims to sensitize probationary officers about the need, for integrity, discipline and effectiveness for optimization of public value and providing improved service delivery to the people – particularly the poor and the disadvantaged.
