MULTAN, Oct 28th: Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar has disclosed that Government was considering a proposal to allow other people to import the cell phones/mobile phone to end the monopoly of a particular section of importers besides allowing the import of used/ second hand mobile sets to discourage the smuggling . Talking to a 50 member delegation of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajiran headed by its president Muhammad Ajmal Baloch the finance minister also conceded their demand to publish the income tax return forms in Urdu and all SROs would also be published in National language to facilitate the traders. Briefing the minutes of the meeting with Finance Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq Chairman of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajiran along with Ehtisham-ul-Haq, Zafar Iqbal Siddiqui, Ch.Muhammad Tariq, Sheikh Tahir Amjad ,Malik Younas ,Khawaja Muhammad Yasir and Aasim Butt told media men at Multan Press club that Finance minister assured to consider a proposal to exempt all the filers of withholding tax on transactions to increase the number of filers in next budget.However there would be no concession for non-filers in taxes. He also assured that active taxpayer list would be provided to all banks so that filers could avail all facilities without any hindrance. Khawaja Shafiq said that there was restriction on the import of used cars/vehicles ,ultra-sound ,X-ray,C.T scan, MRI machines but there was no permission to import used cell-phones.He opposed the random balloting for comprehensive audit describing it opening another door for corruption.The delegation also demanded for withdrawal of notices issued to traders of Khyber Pathtoon khwah under section 114-1(1)of income tax ordinance.THe Finance Minister asked the Chairman of FBR to redress their grievances. Khawaja Shafiq offered to the Government to received 20% more revenue from the traders instead of their inclusion in random balloting for audit.They also demanded for immediate payment of refund claims.Earlier the traders delegation felicitated the Federal Finance Minister and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue on holding these offices.
