MULTAN, Oct 31st: Law enforcing agencies foiled the attempts of clerics and activists of religious parties to reach to New Central women prison where Christian Lady was detained. Heavy Police contingent, Rangers were deployed at Central Jail Multan where Asia bibi was detained. Jail authorities told that they are binding to release Asia bibi after receiving the apex court orders.However, we did not receive any order to her release.Sources told that Asia bibi is happy on her acquittal and she met a number of inmates and said that he was optimistic that court verdict would be in her favour.Complete strike was observed in the market of walled city in Multan following the Supreme Court of Pakistan decision acquitting and ordering the release of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death over blasphemy allegations supporters of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) took the streets in different parts of Multan city, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur ,Sahiwal, Vehari and Dera Ghazi Khan and staged demonstrations on Wednesday.
The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 barring the gathering of people in public places. Section 144 has been imposed across the province from October 31 to November 10.
